In the Ordinary

More often than not, we try to convince ourselves that we’re all alone in this world and that we’re the only one going through crap. And I blame this on social media, I really do. This idea of a picture perfect life that we display for everyone to see as if we all have our lives together and never have a bad day.
It’s so twisted.
Because even what good is a “good day” without a “bad day”? You can’t only one end of the spectrum; you can’t have one without the other in a comparison game.

So, here is a less than average picture of my current state this morning. Sitting in my car, waiting on the bank to open, my gas below half full, my check engine light flashing. You can’t hear it, but my car makes the strangest noises. You can’t see it (and you’re welcome), but my hair is unwashed and in the messiest braid with a hat covering the rest of the frizz on top of my head. I have a baggy shirt on to hide the fact that my belly rolls when I sit down. I have some pretty nasty nails from biting them all the time.
Hey, I’m a mess this morning and that’s alright, because I don’t have to have it all together all the time. I’m imperfect. I have flaws. And sometimes it shows, some days more than others. But that’s what makes me UNIQUE.
You are too, you know.
Place your confidence in the fact that there is not a soul on this earth that looks like you, or have the exact same ideas as you, or word things quite like you.
Wake up and shine as bright as you can.
