Only Human

Disclaimer: I am very human.

This is something that should go without saying, yet I feel the need to address it.
More often than not, we look at those around us and immediately judge them by their appearance and their actions. Why, though? Why are we like this?
Can’t we realize that by judging someone, it doesn’t take away their value and worth and change them as a person or what you initially thought of them?
Man, I tell ya, we girls are the worst at it. I think we feel threatened by another beautiful specimen and feel the need to pick apart every flaw that they possess to feel better about ourselves.
News flash: IT CHANGES NOTHING.
Nothing about them, whether good or bad, in any way, affects who you are. Your pure self.
Comparing ourselves to others is what we do naturally, I get it. But why would an apple ever compare itself to an orange, because they are both simply fruit? Why would bacon compare itself to ham, because they are both made from pig? It’s silly, I know, but that’s what we do!
“At least I’m not like that.”
“Did you see what she was wearing? Slut.”
“Why would you ever do something so stupid?”
So what? You might look different, react different, have different tastes in clothes, music, food, books… Not everyone is exactly like you, and that is the beauty in this life.
So I guess what I’m getting at is:
You are so much worth than what others think about you.
You are even worth more than what you think about others.
Your flaws don’t define you.
What you see in the mirror doesn’t describe you.
And how you see yourself is COMPLETELY different from how others see you - I promise.
No matter what you’ve been told about yourself, you are priceless.
